Who’s sitting proud and tall, safe from the heat and sparkling, waiting quietly for Santa’s arrival? It’s the new Snowman jar who looks gorgeous next to the bathroom sink, cheering (we imagine that) every time my son washes his hands. Isn’t this a cool way to encourage a child to clean off those germs and stay healthy?
To give life to our Snowman jar i needed:
– Medium size recycled jar
– A medium size styrofoam ball
– Snowflakes confetti
– A styrofoam glass
– A small size paper plate
– White Salt
– Any Christmas mini decorations like green Christmas Holly Leaves or anything similar
– Glitter
– Glue
– Googly eyes
– A red lipstick
– Red and orange material for the mouth and nose. Construction paper would work.
– Hot glue gun
I first cut a portion of the ball to make it sit still on the lid of the jar. I used the hot glue gun to glue it. I took the styrofoam glass and cover it with glue and then with glitter. While the glitter and the glue were drying i cut the edge of the paper plate and measured it around the glass to form the hat. The excess was cut out. I applied paper glue and a different color of glitter. Next step was to glue them together and on top of the styrofoam ball. There we had the hat. The face followed next. I used the hot glue gun for the eyes, nose and mouth. With a bit of red lipstick you can give the Snowman jar, red cheeks.
From any spare cotton you can make a scarf, gluing it to the exterior of the lid so it can come off when you want to fill the glass with your desired decoration.
I gave it a black button and, all around the jar, snowflakes confetti. A small decoration on the scarf made it look even cuter. To finish it, i poured white salt, added a battery powered, color changing snowflake and some more snowflakes confetti on the hat.
11 days to Christmas! Santa would love to find every child with clean hands and in good health. That’s his Christmas wish;-)
