Egg Cartoon Christmas Ornaments

Yuhuuuu! My favorite season on the year has began!

I hold dearly in my heart all the times i spent feeling the crisp weather on my cheeks, listening to carols, watching the untouched snow in the night when all the rest are deep asleep, the smell of Christmas cookies, the fabulous smell of the pine trees, the rush for buying gifts, children’s giggle as they get into a snowballs fight, sitting on a sled pulled by my brother who would take sudden turns to have me fall in the puffy snow and me, finally, falling asleep under the Christmas tree, so happy.

In Dubai there is no snow. The weather feels like spring back home, camels have Christmas hats , you can dig your feet in the sand instead of snow, decorations are inside malls, but people, people still rush to get the gifts, still dream of that white, magical Christmasy atmosphere and, although a Muslim country, you can still hear carols here and there.

We begin our winter season crafts with recycled egg cartoon Christmas ornaments that can serve as either trees or hats and can be displayed with other decorations or hanged in the tree. A very simple yet so cute activity. All we need is:

– Egg cartoon

– Scissors

– Glue

– Glitter

– Cotton balls

– Ribbon

– Snow flakes confetti

– Glue gun

– Brush to apply the glue

The lesson:

– Recycle, reuse, care for the planet

– Name the colors

– Feel the textures

– Exercise the fine motor skills (later used for writing) with using the scissors to cut the excesses

– Team work

– Sensory stimulation through listening to carols

– Learning about winter

Steps to making it are very simple:

– Cut the egg carton into separate pointy shapes

– Apply glue on all the surface

– Apply glitter

– Make a hole on top and stick the confetti snowflake

– Use cotton stripes and glue gun to glue the cotton at the edge and a ribbon as you please.

Done! Enjoy!
